Chocolate-Filled Buns
Last Friday morning, just before my kids left for school, my youngest — who’s a true chocolate lover — asked if I could make chocolate-filled buns. “You haven’t baked those in a while,” he said.
If there’s one combination I absolutely love, it’s chocolate and dough. And with these buns, even I couldn’t resist — I had one the moment they came out of the oven.

Hi, I’m Ofira
For the past 20 years, I’ve been exploring my kitchen, baking, cooking, failing, and learning along the way.
Because practice doesn’t just make perfect, it builds confidence.

Chocolate-Filled Buns
Ingredients
For the Dough:
550 g all-purpose flour
200 ml lukewarm whole milk
2 eggs (about 100 g without shells)
100 g butter (room temperature)
27 g fresh yeast or 8 g instant yeast
70 g sugar
A pinch of salt
For the Filling:
Nutella or any chocolate spread you love
Instructions:
In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine all the dry ingredients.
Add the eggs and butter, and mix on medium-high speed.
Slowly pour in the milk and continue mixing.
Switch to a low speed and knead for about 8 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
Transfer the dough to a lightly oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise for 45 minutes, or until doubled in size.
Once risen, divide the dough into small portions and shape into balls.
Fill and shape as shown in the video.
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
Once the buns have rested, brush them with a beaten egg and bake for 15–20 minutes, or until golden brown.
